Showtime at The Apollo will go on amid the coronavirus crisis.
This year, producers of the storied Harlem landmark will host its annual spring benefit online with a virtual presentation, titled “Let’s Stay (In) Together: A Benefit to Support the Apollo Theater,” on June 2 at 7:30 p.m. EDT.
The special musical event – showcasing guest artists performing the music of Apollo legends such as B.B. King, Patti LaBelle and Stevie Wonder, and highlighting the Apollo’s 86-year contribution to arts and culture – will be streamed live at apollotheater.org.
The evening will feature special appearances by Grammy Award-winning legend Dionne Warwick, hip-hop veteran Doug E. Fresh, and comedian Roy Wood Jr. alongside performances by Kool & the Gang, Gary Clark Jr., Robert Randolph, Michael McDonald, Keb Mo, Celisse Henderson, Lil Buck, and Ray Chew, and more.
